This past weekend we had the opportunity to visit the 2021 Wisconsin Parade Of Homes. Each model home served as inspiration and shared plenty of fresh, new and unique design trends. One of the recurring statements we noted throughout the homes was rug layering. Layering rugs adds dimension, texture and variety to a space. Rug Layering Tips:
There are no rules & the options are endless: Layer pattern on pattern, pattern over solid or use different textures. One of the most common combinations is the use of a larger neutral rug with an animal print accent rug over top.
Rug layering often is misconnected as bohemian, but this does not have to be the case! For those who prefer to keep it clean and simple, choose neutral colors and go for variation in texture versus pattern.
Set your larger rug straight according to furniture placement. The smaller accent rug should be placed on top and can be positioned in line with the rug underneath or draped across on an angle.
